Blessings

I'm thankful for:

This guy.

This old horse.

My home. My job. (I mean, I can't be thankful enough for that, especially in such a dismal year for teachers/education.) Farmers who feed me, you, and millions of other hungry mouths on this planet with increasingly confining legislation and regulations and politicians  who won't give them the water they need in which to do this. My family. My fish Bruce Lee. My freedoms and rights as an American. My good health. My grandmother's hilarious dog Tilly. And great music! :)

Boohoo!

It's Tuesday, why does it feel like Thursday????

Oh, yes... Grades are due this week, I'm going to a conference for 2 days this week, and I'm trying to coordinate my mother's birthday party in 2 weeks. And I'm a human blimp. Awesome.

Uff.

On to the outfit [from last weekend, because I'm totally uninspired- take that back, I looked hot on Saturday night but neglected to take a picture] because what's all this complaining do, ANYWAY?

Old Navy long sleeve tee, gifted scarf, Marshall's-find jacket, Express jeans, and Not Rated boots

I was totally stoked on this jacket. Man, I loved it. I still love it. I love that I got it on sale. I love the color combo of the olive green and the coral. (Call me crazy. I just really liked it. And get this- I teach floral design, where all we talk about is color combos.. blah, blah. Live a little!) It was a great outfit to travel in- super comfy jeans, tee, and the scarf kept me comfy in the car.

Yes, I'm one of those people who refuses to travel in sweats on car trips. Its a hangup, okay? I'll admit it, I just can't help myself.

I hope you all had a fab weekend, I'm definitely looking forward to mine!!!!! I've got to figure out what I'm wearing for this conference... what a drag. :)

Love to ya'll!

P.S.- Yes, the cords in the background are bugging me too. I just fixed it. ;)

Thrifty finds

My friend Kali describes me as thrifty. At first I thought she was insane. I love to shop and spend money. But then I realized this girl may be on to something.

Lindsay's Thrifty Shopping Rules:

1. When online shopping (which is my favorite method, FYI), check for coupon codes; www.retailmenot.com is a personal favorite.

2. Try to *Never* buy something unless its on promotion.

3. Use www.ebates.com for additional cash back. Yes. It's legit. (Kali didn't believe me, then I showed her my check. :)

4. I follow See Chloe Shop (Shop, Chloe, Shop!) She features sales every. single. day. She loves doing the legwork, and she does a damn good job.

5. When in doubt, don't buy it. Wait 'til it goes on sale.

6. If you really love it, buy it. Even if its not on sale. (But use a coupon code and ebates.)

7. You can find good stuff at Marshall's. Don't be scared- dive right in.

8. Just cause its second hand, doesn't mean its shoddy. But it sure can be if you aren't careful. Try to buy nice stuff secondhand- its worth the $2 extra dollars.

9. Its worth it to buy expensive bras. Just use a coupon.

10. If you are going to splurge, try to do it on layaway. I bought the most GORGEOUS necklace from The Glamourai; I bought it on layaway so it didn't hurt nearly as badly each month. (Thanks, Kelly, for helping me buy something really, really nice for myself! :)

Shopping is fun. Its more fun if you get it on sale. (Just sayin'.)

Have a lovely rest of the week, and my sincere thanks to the men and women who have risked their lives to serve their country and give me my much appreciated freedom. Thank you, veterans.

Keepin' it Classy on Tuesdays

Sorry for the exhausted expression (I am!), the terrible hair (I've been working since 7.15am) and the lack of shoes (see above for explanation.)

Today is, technically, my Thursday. I have a furlough day on Friday, and Vets Day is on Thursday. It would appear that I have a 4 day weekend- au contraire! I have work meetings scheduled for Friday AND Saturday- smack dab in the middle of the supposed 4 day weekend. I think I should call this the long vacation that wasn't. Or something like that. (And no, I'm not the person [I refrained from rude language!] who planned this...)

Anyway, so here's my Tuesday-that's-a-Thursday outfit. HORRAY!

Victoria's Secret Silk and Cashmere sweater (one of my favorites!), secondhand necklace, and very old Joe's Jeans. Not pictured: Old Navy penny loafers. (I cuffed the jeans. It was very cute! :)

Oh, and PS- I requested a free Sweater Stone months ago, and it came in the mail awhile back. I haven't had a chance to use it because... let's face it, 100+ degree heat just isn't conducive to cashmere sweaters. Anyway- this thing works wonders. It spruced up my sweaters in a jiffy- no damage to the fibers of the sweater, it just removed all of the pills. I highly recommend it!

Miracle of Miracles!

Confession.

My desktop computer is ancient. Really. 2004 was the last time my computer was considered new.

Fact.

I am too cheap to get a new one.

Miracle?

My USB port, after several weeks of being a total jerk, decided to work.

Hmm.

Here's what I wore today to sit and watch football for 7 hours in. (Thanks, boyfriend.) I hate football. But I love my boyfriend, so I suffered through it semi-patiently.

And the weather is rainy, so the hair is a mess.

Tshirt: VS Pink. Jeans: Express. Jacket: F21. Scarf: Payless

Hope you had a fabulous weekend! I have a 4 day coming up on Thursday. Don't be too jealous- one's a furlough day. Woohooooooo.
